not a film school (nafs) started as a free experimental school developed through Gasworks participation. The project was in response to the lack of non-fee-paying arts education. nafs brought together 15 first-time filmmakers from the local community, establishing a space for collective action and experimentation.
The project culminated in assembly, a public programme at Gasworks in June 2025. nafs continues beyond the residency as a newly formed collective developing work grounded in community and experimentation.
